The expert provided forecasts for the harvest and prices for cherries

In April 2024, after abnormally high temperatures, a sharp cooling occurred, the temperature dropped below 0°C in some places.

As Oksana Gordiy, head of the cherry orchard project at Uman Fruit Company LLC, said, there is a possibility that the frost that covered part of Ukraine could have a negative impact on cherries.

According to her, as a result, the berry harvest may be smaller, and the price may be higher.

At the same time, if the situation with the war worsens and people start leaving the country again, then the consumption of berries will, accordingly, fall and drag the prices to the bottom.

 

By the way, even despite the war, the Uman Fruit Company continues to expand cherry plantations. So, in 2022, the area of the garden was increased by 3 hectares, in 2023 by 1 hectare, and this year it will be expanded by another 2 hectares. So, in the 2014 season, the total area of the garden will reach 22 hectares.
